DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

HCS is seeking a talented and proven development professional to oversee all fundraising activities and to serve on our collegial Senior Management Team, participating in core strategic planning and general operations review. 

The successful candidate will have superior interpersonal, writing and verbal communication skills and the ability to build and steward lasting relationships.  He or she will be responsible for soliciting and securing major gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations and government programs through personal contact, correspondence and grant writing.

The Development Director is responsible for production of newsletters, brochures and other publicity materials, which support fundraising and the agency mission in general.  He or she will manage the donor database, bulk mailings, events and other activities.  The Director will supervise the Grants and Development Coordinator, who assists with fundraising and publicity activities. 

Qualifications include:  BA or higher degree and a minumum of 5 - 8 years of successful fundraising experience; superior communication skills; some event management experience; general knowledge and competency in use of spreadsheets, internet, social media, word processing and donor database systems (sound familiarity with Raiser's Edge a plus).
