Toolkits for Caregivers Workshop Series

Taking Care of a Family Member?  Get the Toolkit! More and more people are caring for an older family member at home, from a few hours a week to full time care giving responsibilities.  Toolkits for Caregivers is a workshop series designed for caregivers to learn more about providing hands-on assistance to a loved one.  The series will be held at the office of Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services at the Pheasant Wood Rehabilitation and Care Center, 50 Pheasant Rd in Peterborough on September 15, 22, and 29 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. Topics will include practical tips for giving personal care, how to prevent falls, managing medications and caring for those with Alzheimer’s disease.  The workshops will also provide information on local resources and how to take care of you as the caregiver.  A different topic will be covered each week by nurses and rehabilitation therapists with extensive home care and geriatric care experience from Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services. The workshop series is free, but reservations are necessary by September 10, 2010.  Call Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services (HCS) at 532-8353 or 1-800-541-4145 for more information and reservations.  HCS is a United Way agency providing visiting nurse and hospice care throughout southwestern New Hampshire
