Meals on Wheels…more than a meal!
Meals on Wheels serves 400 seniors in Cheshire County every day. The service is much more than a meal, it is also a vital safety check for seniors who live alone and are homebound. More than 103,000 meals were delivered last year to our friends and neighbors in Cheshire County.
Meals on Wheels can help seniors and individuals with disabilities stay independent at home by providing good nutrition. Meals on Wheels are often needed for a short period of time after a hospitalization. Meals on Wheels are available in many Cheshire County communities. For those with special needs, breakfast bags, weekend meals and special diets are also available.

Meals on Wheels are served in a container that maintains the proper temperature of the food upon delivery. If the meal is not eaten right away, the tray can be reheated in a microwave or conventional oven. The container is biodegradable and recyclable.
Meals on Wheels are currently served in Chesterfield, Fitzwilliam, Gilsum, Hinsdale, Keene, Marlborough, Nelson, Rindge, Sullivan, Swanzey, Troy, Westmoreland and Winchester. Requests in other towns are considered on a case by case basis. Please call for availability.
An outreach worker or nurse from Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services makes a home visit to explain the program and determine eligibility. Seniors able to get out are encouraged to come to our Friendly Meals Community Dining for Seniors program.
Meals on Wheels is provided on a donation system. An envelope is provided weekly for a confidential donation. The actual cost of providing the meal is $6.00; we appreciate a donation of $3.00 to defray the cost of the meal and delivery.
