The Friendly Bus provides assisted transportation services for senior citizens age 60 and over.
The Friendly Bus schedules rides one day in advance. The dispatch desk is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm to take calls. Rides are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. Rides can be scheduled for pick up and return from 7:45 am to 4:00 pm. The Friendly Bus can be reached at 352-8494.
Making a Friendly Bus ride reservation...
Call the Friendly Bus at 352-8494, Monday - Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm.
If you are a first time rider, let the dispatcher know:
- Your name
- Address and directions to your house
- Phone number
- Any special needs that you have, such as a walker, cane, or oxygen so that we can better assist you.
If you use a wheelchair, is there a ramp at your residence?
- Medicaid number if you have one
The dispatcher will give you a pick up time. You make also set a return time with the dispatcher, or call when you are finished with your appointment. The last pick up is scheduled at 3:45 pm.
If you must cancel your appointment, please let the dispatcher know as soon as plans have changed.
The Friendly Bus will not operate on the following holidays:
- New Year's Day
- President's Day
- Memorial Day
- 4th of July
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Day after Thanksgiving
- Christmas
In the event of inclement weather that makes travel unsafe, notification that the service will not be running is aired on local radio stations, and will be in the emergency news section of the home page.
