Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services (HCS) is your local visiting nurse and hospice serving southwestern New Hampshire. We have been providing comfort, care and support to people at home since the first visiting nurses started in the Peterborough area in 1907. One hundred years later, Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services is a unique organization serving southwestern New Hampshire communities with comprehensive nursing and therapy services that help speed recovery after a hospitalization and provide independence at home for those who are chronically ill. From visits to newborns to comfort at the end of life through our hospice program, Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services is there for all members of your family.
Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services is a local not for profit organization. Many services are funded by Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance plans and grants. No one is denied the care necessary for their health and safety solely on the basis of ability to pay.
Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services is Medicare certified and licensed by the State of New Hampshire as a home care provider.
We are proud to be a Monadnock United Way agency.

The first Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) in the region was formed in Peterborough in September, 1907. The aim of the VNA was "to provide a skilled trained nurse by the hour. The position requires a woman of larger resources and more ability than the usual city nurse." The first nurses usually walked to see their patients. The annual report of the group in 1911 listed 444 visits in the town.
