Gomes assumes the role after serving as Interim CEO since November 2025
KEENE, NH – Home Healthcare, Hospice & Community Services (HCS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Karen Gomes, RN, MS, COS-C as its President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective May 1, 2026.
“Karen’s leadership and strategic guidance over the last few months have been nothing short of remarkable,” said Susan Simonds, Board Chair. “As rural healthcare providers, we are driven by our mission and look towards a future that best serves our community. We are thrilled Karen will continue to lead our team, expanding and strengthening critical healthcare access through HCS’s programs.”
Gomes transitions to President and CEO after serving as the agency’s Interim CEO after the retirement of Maura McQueeney in November 2025. Gomes joined HCS with more than 20 years of leadership across the continuum of care, including geriatric, home health, hospice, and population health management. Prior to joining HCS, Gomes ran her own consulting business, RN Answers, LLC, and served as President and CEO of Tufts Medicine Care at Home.
“It’s an honor to work alongside this talented and dedicated team,” said Gomes. “HCS has a long history of serving southwestern New Hampshire, providing exceptional care to individuals and families, equipping them to stay safe and independent at home, where they want to be. Together, we will continue to build upon the clinical and social service excellence we’re known for and look towards the future, expanding access to care and strengthening our community partnerships and impact as we approach our 120th anniversary.”
Under Gomes’ leadership, HCS will continue to invest in its programs, expanding access, enhancing patient experience, and addressing evolving healthcare and community service needs across southwestern New Hampshire.
