Keene– Expectant moms and parents with young children are welcome to a new Mothers in Recovery group that will start beginning in November. Parents of all ages in all stages of recovery are welcome to join the group, which will focus on building a social a network of healthy relationships, treatment, learning about their child’s growth and development and sharing the struggles of parenting while in recovery. The group will be held at Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services, 312 Marlboro Street in Keene and will offer childcare on site with the group sessions. The Healthy Starts Family Resource Center specialist will assist with connecting parents with resources both at the meetings and between the sessions to support their recovery.
The Mothers in Recovery program was the brainchild of the staff at the Hubbard Center for Women’s Health and has been located for several years at the Cheshire Medical Center. This successful group is now moving to space at HCS and expanding to offer childcare and reach more parents. Healthy Starts is hosting the new group and collaborating with Better Life Partners to offer MAT and to reach additional families.
